Description: \u00a0<\/strong>This is a certificated 40-hour mediation training, part of our Mediation Core Curriculum designed to teach you everything you need to know to start mediating, either professionally or for daily use and practice. We\u2019ll focus on mediation, conflict transformation and resolution theory and skills, with an emphasis on fostering self-awareness to reduce personal reactivity, as well as reflection and active listening techniques to facilitate communication.\u00a0The course emphasizes\u00a0the following:<\/p>\n\n- Understanding the Theory and Practice of Mediation, as Mediators<\/li>\n
- Self-Awareness Inventory and Development<\/li>\n
- Conflict Intervention Skills Necessary to Mediate<\/li>\n
- Communication Skills and Transformation \u201cHow-To\u2019s\u201d<\/li>\n
- Individual Feedback from Trainers, addressing Participants\u2019 Specific Strengths and Areas for Improvement<\/li>\n
- Mastering and Understanding of Oneself as the Conflict Intervener<\/li>\n
- Understanding the Motivations of Personality in Conflict<\/li>\n
- Working with the Enneagram Personality Typology and Reducing Personal Reactivity<\/li>\n
- Working Effectively with Counsel and Other Representatives<\/li>\n
- Mastering the Skills of \u00a0the \u201clittle m\u201d mediator for Everyday Conflict Management<\/li>\n
- Understanding the workplace mediation process and mediator\u2019s role<\/li>\n
- Understanding the protocol for how mediation works with EEOC and inhouse programs<\/li>\n
- Understanding labor law and EEO Programs for informal and formal complaints<\/li>\n
- Hands-on skills for workplace conflict and conflict transformation how-to<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
What\u2019s Included:<\/strong>\u00a0A 40-hour certificated course held over a period of five consecutive days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), training manual and materials.<\/p>\nA certificate noting 40 hours of attendance will be provided at the end of training. It may be used to apply for state circuit court rosters of approved mediators and for continuing education credits from the participant\u2019s accrediting institution.<\/p>\n
This training is approved by and\/or a certificate of successful completion of this training may be used to satisfy the requirements of the following:<\/p>\n
\n- The Maryland Circuit Courts<\/li>\n
- The United States government and all federal agency rosters<\/li>\n
- The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission<\/li>\n
- The Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners<\/li>\n
- Most other states which have 20, 40 or 60 hour mediation training requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This course is lead by Louise Phipps Senft, the author of the best-selling book: <\/span>Being Relational: the Seven Ways to Quality Interaction & Lasting Change.
