Baltimore Mediation | Mediation, Facilitation, Training Better Process, Better Outcome

BILL SENFT

I assist families with difficult conversations in connection with marriage, care for elders, family business succession planning and other disputes in the family context - practicing within the transformative framework of mediation. You can reach me at bill@baltimoremediation.com.

I am a CPA and attorney. I came out of the Business School at the University of Virginia and worked as an accountant with Price Waterhouse before attending law school at Washington and Lee University where I graduated summa cum laude. I practiced law at big prestigious law firms in Baltimore and Washington DC - Shaw Pittman Potts & Trowbridge – but along the way my wife, Louise, and I had 5 children which gave me a different perspective on everything.

For many years I served as a finance consultant and legal advisor to entrepreneurs – with clients in many industries and the non-profit sector. I gained vast experience in corporate transactions, fundraising, tax and finance planning for families and family business, debt workouts and numerous other legal and financial areas. Meanwhile, I was continuing my professional development with work in mediation and facilitating dialogue and also in spiritual formation on a path that, with God's help, will bring me to ordination as a Catholic Deacon in 2009.

Louise and I have served and continue to serve our community through involvement in community organizations, our schools and our church. I am an Assistant Scoutmaster in our Boy Scout Troop and a member of its Executive Committee. I have been involved as a leader of a coed Venturing Crew for high school age young men and women that took on the issue of alcohol and drug use in planning and executing evening events for high school students. I was involved in fundraising and grant seeking for that program.

I have received rigorous instruction at St Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore in many dimensions of theology, scripture, homiletics, and liturgy. I have been blessed with the gift of this instruction and formation in addition to pastoral experience, such as a challenging 9 month internship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, working with the Chaplain there in providing spiritual support of patients and their families. I had the experience of seeing the face of Jesus Christ daily in the suffering of patients and their families. I believe that everything in our lives, good and difficult, is a gift from God and everything good flows from gratitude for that gift and living in union with God’s will.

I look forward to assisting you with the difficult conversations that, despite their difficulty and painfulness, need to take place in your family You can reach me at bill@baltimoremediation.com.
